Melbourne Fashion Week 2019.

My collection 'Inner Sanctum' was selected to showcase on the Melbourne Fashion Week Student Runway for 2019.

This collection has encompassed the notions of layering and armour. These ideas have been informed by a post-modern interpretation of truth, where lived experiences layer to influence how we think, feel and behave. I have interpreted the idea as a physical manifestation of layers that build over time and give the wearer an armour.
I have developed a layering technique by experimenting with cut outs informed by reference images of shredded paint layers and banded iron formations. A direct reference into this research has come through in my use of digitally printed fabrics.

Personal protective equipment served as inspirations for silhouette, fabrications and fastenings. In particular, firefighting elements and conventions were explored.
